Why is exercise important?
Moderate daily physical activity can reduce substantially the risk of developing or dying from cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and certain cancers, such as colon cancer. Daily physical activity helps to lower blood pressure and cholesterol, helps prevent or retard osteoporosis, and helps reduce obesity, symptoms of anxiety and depression, and symptoms of arthritis. (The President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports).

Why hire a personal trainer?
Certified Personal Trainers (CPTs) have the knowledge base to correctly guide you through various exercise programs. They are able to assess you and offer suggestions based on your needs. A Plus Personal Trainers are motivating and offer fun ways to get in shape. It’s not uncommon for our trainers to take their clients outside for a refreshing outdoor workout! A Plus Personal trainers are professionals and abide by a code of ethics that ensures your needs will be met!

What if I have to cancel a session?
We understand that emergencies arise and sessions may have to be cancelled. Please read of policy section of the website.

How soon can I expect results?
Each individual has their own unique set of needs. No two people will progress at the same rate. Your Personal Trainer will discuss various different reasons for this in person. Typically, an increase in general well being is noticed in the first two weeks of starting a program. Individual results will vary and your trainer will be there to guide you through highs and lows of your program!

What if I take long vacations? How will I maintain my level of fitness?
Starting a program is the first step in achieving a healthy lifestyle. Lifelong wellbeing is never ending, thus vacations do not mean you should stop exercising and eating right. There are many options to continue with your program and modifications aren’t a problem!

What can I expect from my first session with my Trainer?
Your first session is always FREE. At this meeting, there is no exercise and no testing. It is simply a time to discuss your goals and to determine if personal training is right for you. A Plus does not believe in selling training sessions to clients who will not benefit from them. Personal training is right for most people, but not all. We will discuss the time you have devoted toward a program, your social support, your lifestyle, and any questions or concerns you may have. If you think A Plus is right for you, we will ask you to fill out some forms pertaining to consent, release of liability, and/or medical release if you have risk factors for coronary artery disease or other illnesses/injuries. Injury or illness does NOT disqualify you for a wellness program! Many illnesses can be eased through moderate activity. Your doctor will be asked to recommend exercise parameters for your condition and may wish to communicate directly with your trainer.

Do I always need to work out with my trainer?
One of the main benefits of at home workouts is the convenience! Your trainer will work with you to develop a program that fits your lifestyle. After your first training session, you will most likely be able to work out without your trainer present. We typically recommend 3-5 days of program related activity. You may wish to meet with your trainer weekly, bi weekly, monthly, or whatever it takes to keep you on track! We highly recommend at least monthly sessions to ensure compliance and avoid boredom. We believe in variations and can change your program to meet your needs.

If I have a question or concern between sessions? Do I need to schedule a session or can my trainer help me via email or phone?
Most of the time you will not need to make an additional appointment for questions or concerns. Simply email us and we will be prompt in answering your questions. If you would rather speak to your trainer over the phone, feel free to call us and we will do our best to return your call in a timely manner. You and your trainer will discuss if another session is needed.

What if I purchased a package and face an unexpected illness, injury, or a move?
No problem! A note written by a physician stating your illness/injury will be sufficient. You may choose to hold your training sessions for an extended time period, or you may request a refund of sessions not used. In the event of a move, a verification of your new address (through new mail, settlement paper, new lease, etc) will be enough to ensure a refund.

How far will my trainer travel to get to my house?
We are based in Emmaus, PA and are willing to travel approximately 30 miles in any direction to train clients. Due to rising fuel costs, any mileage over that is typically discouraged.
